Welcome to NewtCBT. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Local-First Data Processing & Architecture

NewtCBT operates primarily as a local-first client-side software utility. All data transformation, storage, and processing tasks are executed directly within your web browser environment:

  • PDF Parsing & AI Processing: Document layout detection, text extraction, diagram cropping, and AI chapter classification are executed client-side. NewtCBT does not host or maintain a central server repository of user-uploaded raw PDF files.
  • CBT Test Generation & Local Storage: All generated tests, question banks, personal notes, and exam attempt histories are stored locally on your device via browser IndexedDB.
  • PDF Export Generation: Exporting tests to printable PDF format ("Review Content as PDF") is rendered entirely in your browser canvas. Exported PDFs automatically include user attribution and legal fair-use disclaimers.
  • Direct Launch & Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Test Sharing: Sharing tests via direct launch links or P2P connection transmits test parameters directly between peer devices without central server archiving.
  • Spreadsheet / CSV Import & Export: Importing or exporting question banks via spreadsheets/CSV files is executed completely offline in local browser memory.
  • Leaderboard & Analytics: Optional leaderboard score submissions process minimal quantitative metadata (username, score, attempt time) solely to generate comparative statistics.

2. Public Library & User Content

NewtCBT is a User-Generated Content (UGC) platform. All exams, documents, and data found within the "Public Library" or shared across NewtCBT are processed, uploaded, and shared by independent users.

  • NewtCBT does not curate, create, or verify the academic validity or copyright ownership of content in the Public Library.
  • User Compute & API Key Responsibility: All document parsing, layout extraction, and test generation are initiated autonomously by users spending their own personal Gemini API keys and local client compute. Therefore, all content generated, exported, or shared on NewtCBT is the sole legal responsibility of the user who initiated the generation.
  • The presence of content in the Public Library or via direct links does not constitute an endorsement by the platform or its owner.

3. Ownership

NewtCBT is the exclusive intellectual property of Rugved Kulkarni aka newtene, who owns and operates the platform as an independent entity.

4. User Accounts

  • One Account Policy: Each individual is permitted to maintain only one (1) account.
  • Account Security: You are responsible for any actions performed under your identity via Google OAuth.
  • Authentication Privacy: Signing in via Google OAuth is used solely to authenticate your user session. NewtCBT does not request, access, read, or store your private Google Drive files, emails, or Google account contacts.

5. PDF Processing & Export Warranty

NewtCBT provides local browser utilities to convert uploaded PDF question papers into interactive tests and export revision documents.

  • Content Warranty: By processing or uploading a PDF, you warrant that you have the legal right, ownership, or fair-use permission to process that document for personal study.
  • Personal Educational Export: Exported PDF documents generated using NewtCBT are intended solely for personal offline revision. Commercial resale or unauthorized public redistribution is strictly prohibited.
  • API Quotas & Usage: NewtCBT is not responsible for rate limits, quota exhaustion, or API usage costs incurred on user-provided third-party AI accounts.
  • Accuracy: We do not guarantee 100% accuracy in the extraction of text, images, or formatting from your PDFs.

6. Acceptable Use

  • No Scraping: Automated extraction of data from NewtCBT is strictly prohibited.
  • No Abuse: Any attempt to compromise our infrastructure or parsing engines will result in a permanent ban.

7. Academic Disclaimer

NewtCBT is an analytical practice tool. We do not guarantee specific exam results, scores, or All India Ranks (AIR). Users are solely responsible for verifying answer key accuracy.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, NewtCBT shall not be liable for damages resulting from technical failures, data alteration, or formatting errors in generated tests.

9. Non-Affiliation & Trademarks

NewtCBT is not affiliated with the National Testing Agency (NTA), specific coaching institutes, or test series providers. Our UI is a simulation designed for practice purposes only. Any institute names, exam acronyms (JEE, NEET, NTA), or logos appearing within user-generated PDFs or community library entries remain the exclusive intellectual property of their respective trademark owners. Mention of such names does not imply affiliation, endorsement, or sponsorship by NewtCBT.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to permanently ban accounts that violate these terms, create multiple profiles, or attempt to exploit the parsing engine.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in India.
