Using the Merge Tool

Complete guide to the Merge Tool: generating fresh practice copies of expired/direct-launched tests, combining or trimming papers, chapterwise test generation, bundling, and hosting live P2P exams.

Bypassing Direct Launching & Expiration for Unlimited Practice

Test creators can enable Direct Launching or set Expiration Dates to enforce fair test conditions and protect leaderboard integrity. • Creating a Fresh Practice Copy: If you want to practice an expired test or re-attempt a test with Direct Launching enabled, use the Merge Tool to generate a fresh practice copy of that paper. • Leaderboard Protection: Practice attempts created via the Merge Tool allow full access to test content, but scores from these practice copies are not submitted to the public leaderboard.

Combining & Trimming Test Content

The Merge Tool was originally created to give you complete flexibility over test paper composition: • Merge Multiple Papers: Select multiple test papers to combine questions into a single comprehensive revision exam. • Trim Test Content: Select specific questions or sections from a paper to decrease overall test length and focus strictly on key topics.

Advanced Categorization & Chapterwise Tests

Inside the Merge modal, access powerful organization and test generation tools: • Subject Categorization: Categorize question sections by subject (works for tests generated on NewtCBT since they include chapter/subject analysis metadata). • Chapterwise Test Generation: Filter questions by specific chapters to generate focused chapterwise revision tests. • Create Multiple Tests & Bundling: Generate multiple test papers at once from selected question pools and save them together into a single structured test bundle.

Hosting Live Tests (P2P)

The second bar/tab in the Merge workspace is dedicated to Hosting Live Tests: • Synchronized P2P Exam Rooms: Host live exams over P2P where all participating students start the test at the exact same time. • Automatic Direct Launching: Live hosted tests automatically have Direct Launching enabled to ensure a synchronized, fair, and tamper-proof exam session for all participants.
