Landing Page & Quick Launch
After generating or opening a test paper, you will land on the test landing page. Here, you will see quick launch options like Easy Mode (allows pausing), NTA Interface (strict exam UI), Total Duration / Time, and an Edit Settings button.
Clicking the Edit Settings option launches the comprehensive Pre-Test Setup workspace where you can review generated questions, crop images, adjust marking schemes, configure host settings, and map sections (discussed in detail below).
Pre-Test Setup Workspace
The Pre-Test Setup workspace consists of four main tabs along with section management utilities:
Review Content Tab
This tab is used for reviewing all generated content, including questions, options, LaTeX math formatting, and answer keys.
• Review & Save Content as PDF: You can review your generated test paper directly in PDF format and save or export that PDF to your device using the Review Content as PDF option.
• Answer Key Edits: You can edit the correct answers for questions directly from this tab.
• Image Inspection: You can view and inspect diagrams here as well. However, we recommend using the Edit Images tab for a much better image editing and cropping experience.
Edit Images Tab
This tab consists of powerful features for managing and cropping test images & diagrams:
• Bounding Boxes Adjustment: The tab displays complete question paper pages with AI-generated diagram boxes. You can click on any box and drag to adjust its dimensions, then save the box coordinates.
• Add Image Option: Located on the top bar, this option allows you to add external images or select already present test images. You can create new bounding boxes on them for questions by clicking on the newly added image and selecting the box type.
• Delete Mode: Allows you to delete unwanted bounding boxes. When a box is deleted, the top bar prompts you to save or undo your changes.
• Crop All Button: A feature to crop all full pages into smaller, decluttered images containing only the selected bounding boxes, which significantly lowers the test file size for easy sharing or storing.
• Regenerate PDF Option: Useful if you generated a test with certain image settings (e.g., original background) but now want transparent images (or vice versa). You can upload the PDF paper again to extract fresh images: just make sure to upload the exact same PDF question paper used when initially generating the test.
• Make This Image Transparent: Located above each page viewport to convert a specific image to transparent (e.g., if you uploaded an external image). Do not use this option on an already transparent image as it will distort it. (If needed, you can review and undo image changes).
Marking Scheme & Time Allocation Tab
This tab features a two-column workspace: the first column displays your selected question from the question palette grid, and the second column provides controls for setting marking schemes and allotted time.
• Single Question Rules: Click on allotted time or marks to edit individual question scoring (e.g. +4 / -1). For single question rules, click the Save button located beside Save & Launch.
• Bulk Marking Utility: Built-in utility to apply bulk marking schemes according to section or global question types (MSQ, MCQ, or Numerical). Includes an integrated auto-save.
• Allotted Time & Analysis: Allotted time defines the expected target time per question used for performance metrics on the post-test Analysis page. By default, it is set to Auto (
Total Time Allotted / Total Questions). Using the bulk utility, you can set custom allotted times section-wise or apply a custom target time across the whole paper.Test Settings Tab
Contains various host and security settings: useful when sharing a test and wanting fair, tamper-proof student responses:
• Lock Diagram: Enabling this setting locks diagrams during the exam so they cannot be dragged around by test-takers (zooming still works, but dragging is disabled).
• Direct Launching Settings: Use this setting if you do not want test-takers to edit the test marking scheme, duration, interface type, or easy mode. It directly launches the exam for students with all setup controls bypassed.
• Schedule Test Expiration: Set an expiration date and time. After this expiration date/time, users cannot take the test (they would need to use the Merge Tool to make a fresh copy, protecting your leaderboard integrity).
• DB Settings: Choose your leaderboard destination: connect to Google Sheets, your own web app, or our built-in database.
• Generate AI Solutions: Triggers Gemini AI to automatically generate detailed step-by-step solutions for all questions.
Section Name Changing & Management
In the question palette grid, clicking a section tag categorizes questions by section.
• Manage Sections Modal: Click Manage Sections to launch a modal for creating new sections, editing section names, re-mapping section assignments for any question, and changing question types (MCQ, MSQ, NAT/Numerical).
• Important Tip for Analysis: Keep the section name prefixed with the subject name (e.g., "Physics - Section A" or "Chemistry"). The post-test Analysis page relies on the subject name in the section title to categorize metrics accurately.
